INSIGHTS
The determination of Phenylglycolic Acid and Mandelic Acid is used for the biological monitoring of individuals exposed to Styrene. Styrene is in fact transformed by the organism into Styrene-Oxide first, then into Phenyl-Ethyl- Glycol and lastly to Mandelic and Phenylglycolic Acid, which are expelled without further modifications.

Principle of the  Method:

Phenylglyoxilic Acid and Mandelic Acid are analyzed after dilution and after the addition of a stabilization solution.
This solution is then directly injected into HPLC System.
