S-Phenylmercapturic Acid (S-PMA) is a urinary metabolite of Benzene, deriving from the conjugation of the Benzene-Epoxide intermediate with Glutathione. The S-PMA metabolite was recently put on the list ofbiological indicators for Benzene exposure.

Principle of the Method:

Acid S-phenylmercapturic is diluted with a suitable reagent and, after purification on clean-up column
and incubation at 95 ° C, is derivatized and analyzed by HPLC.
