N,N-Dimethylformamide (DMF) and N,N-Dimethylacetamide (DMA) are solvents  often used in the production of polymers. These substances can be absorbed through the skin and inhaled. Their metabolites are excreted in urine. Biological monitoring is needed for workers exposed to DMF and DMA by determining their metabolites N-methylformamide (NMF) and N-methylacetamide (NMA) in urine, respectively. The detection and the quantitative analysis of N-Methylacetamide and N-Methylformamide in urine as aid in the diagnosis of occupational diseases.
